Camille Martin is an independent curator. She joined the CAC Brétigny team in May 2018 as a curatorial assistant and then took the job of production manager until February 2022. During four years, she conceives projects to promote young creation within the institution. In particular, she accompanies Laura Burucoa’s artistic residency and is in charge of curating the exhibitions at the Phare, Théâtre Brétigny’s hosting spaces, in 2021 and 2022. In 2019, she creates with Cathy Crochemar the collective commizariat, based between Paris and Brussels, which co-organizes with musical programmers festive events offering artists popular and experimental spaces. In 2022, she founded Art. 238 bis: a structure designed to support young creation, which accompanies companies in the acquisition or rental of contemporary artworks.
Her curatorial projects focus on the power relationships at play within art spaces. Sometimes with insolence, she has fun hijacking or renewing the codes of contemporary art. Through her deliberately subjective and oral curatorial writing, she aims to rethink the posture of the curator by paying particular attention, in her research and work processes, to publics and issues of accessibility to art.
Since July 2023, she has been a resident at the Wonder.
