CALL FOR APPLICATIONS COAST CONTEMPORARY RESEARCH JOURNEY & ASSEMBLY
The partnership established in 2019 between C-E-A and Coast Contemporary offers member curators, who are in good standing with their membership fees and interested in the Norwegian art scene, to participate in an annual program of meetings and site visits across Norway. The 2026 program is scheduled to take place from September 14 to 20, 2026, in Møre and Romsdal, a county in the northern most part of Western Norway as well as in cities and in Vestland county.
ABOUT COAST CONTEMPORARY
Founded by artist Tanja Sæter in 2015, Coast Contemporary was created to foster to support for artists, curators, and local art structures. After nine successful editions, Coast Contemporary has contributed to over 340 collaborations across 12 countries.
C-E-A and Coast Contemporary are pleased to invite applications for the tenth edition of the program.
Coast Contemporary is a nomadic platform for discourse and art that brings together Norwegian and international curators, artists, art critics and cultural workers for a multi-day program of performances, talks, screenings, and a conference program in Norway. Coast Contemporary fosters international exchange between colleagues and prospective collaborators by slowing down and making space for new connections. The venues and curatorial focus change for every edition. Participating artists and curators range in background and experience level, including independent curators and representatives of small, artist-run spaces as well as established institutions.
2026 PROGRAM
Coast Contemporary’s 10th edition will take place in Møre and Romsdal, a county in the northern most part of Western Norway as well as in cities and in Vestland county, in the period of 14-20 of September, 2026. The tenth edition will include elements from the last nine editions, all with a core focus on solidarity economics and the artist run, each edition touching upon this topic in various forms. In the upcoming edition we will dig deeper into alternative economies and the political economy within the arts, possible new horizons and how one could work together to achieve alternatives.
