CONTEXT

Coast Contemporary was founded by artist Tanja Sæter in 2015 in order to make it easier to survive for artists, curators and institutions. After seven editions Coast Contemporary has contributed to more than 340 collaborations in 12 countries.

C-E-A, the Norwegian Embassy in Paris and Coast Contemporary have the pleasure of inviting you to apply for attendance at Coast Contemporary 2024, EditionEight.

Coast Contemporary is a journey, a nomadic platform, a time for encounters, exchanges and art that brings together artists, art workers, and international an Norwegian curators, both established and non-established, to discover structures run by artists or international institutions. The programme of performances, exhibitions, discussions, experimental cuisine and walks is interwoven with nature, food and time for reflection. Coast Contemporary encourages international exchanges, the creation of new connections between potential collaborators and advocates slowing down. The exhibition venues and curatorial approach change with each edition. Founder and artist Tanja Saeter is responsible for the artistic direction of the eight edition. A number of institutions, artists and curators have been invited to participate in and contribute to the the development of the programme in various ways. The artist Kenneth Varpe is in charge of digital communication during the trip. He has organized each edition with Tanja since 2017.

This years, Coast Contemporary will take place in and around Oslo from Synday 15 to Thursday 19 September 2024. The programme continues in Bergen until Sunday 22 September.
