Vit à : Paris , entre France et Italie
Marianna De Marzi questions the space where dichotomous systems meet, the zone of convergence where collective practices develop, pushing back individual and social boundaries. Her curatorial practice is participatory and co-constructed around an exercise in cross-fertilisation of plural thoughts.
For several months, she conducted independent research into the contemporary art scene in the West Indies, writing for the online magazines Mowwgli and smArty. Once back, she set up the curatorial project Meeting Points with the researcher and curator Cassandre Langlois, with the aim of participating in inter-island artistic exchanges, as well as between certain Caribbean islands and Europe. The first edition, held in Martinique in 2022, brought together visual arts, dance, film, body expression workshops, walks, discussions and meals.
She worked closely with the photographer, film-maker and artistic director Françoise Huguier before founding Maison Gersaint with Anne-Sophie Bertrand, an agency dedicated to helping emerging artists define and redefine their artistic identity. At the same time she is a member of P.I.A. (Persistence Is All), a participatory school of contemporary culture for artists and curators in Lecce, southern Italy. Today she is continuing her investigation of Meridian thought alongside Lebanese-American sculptor, painter and ceramist Simone Fattal.
