Caroline BRAVO
Commissaire d'exposition - Curatrice

Biography

Île-de-France

Caroline Bravo is an independent curator based in Paris, France. She is the co-founder, alongside artist Sandrine Follère, of the Station Expérimentale d’Art Contemporain, a nomadic art incubator dedicated to research, experimentation, and interdisciplinary contemporary art practices. She is also the co-founder and curator of HEY MUMMY! PROJECT, a series of exhibitions and events exploring women’s memories and transgenerational transmission. Her curatorial practice encompasses the conception of interdisciplinary exhibitions, performance art programmes, and collaborative artistic projects. At the intersection of contemporary art, the humanities, and contemporary social issues, she favours experimental approaches, hybrid forms, and dialogue across disciplines. Her work explores questions of memory, otherness, identity, transmission, power dynamics, and engagement. Holding a Master’s degree in Ethnology, Anthropology, and Religious Studies, she develops a curatorial approach informed by the humanities, in dialogue with her own artistic practice, which encompasses performance art, installation, and photography. Also holding a degree in Art, Culture and Mediation, she has worked extensively across the cultural, artistic and media sectors, notably with the Office of the President of the Institut du Monde Arabe (Arab World Institute), in print journalism (including the editorial team of Diapason magazine), television and the music industry, where she served as Image/PR Director for record labels, overseeing music video production, the art direction of album covers, booklets and promotional materials, as well as press relations. She has also led artistic workshops and research sessions, including the workshop “Performance and Animality”, co-directed with scenographer Catherine Bay at The Window (Paris), a research session at Galerie Michel Journiac (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) with the Laboratoire des Arts de la Performance, as well as workshops in Toulouse exploring the themes of “Elasticity” and “Bifurcation”. She is a member of C-E-A (French Association of Curators) and La Maison des Artistes, a researcher-member of L.A.P. (Laboratoire des Arts de la Performance), a board member of the Culture Soudée collective, a member of the Board of Directors of AgorActive, which oversees the Be-Cosmo artists’ studios, a member of Arts Diffusion – Le Générateur, and a member of Les Braqueuses, a women’s magazine to which she contributes as a curator and visual artist.
