Commissaire d'exposition indépendante

Biography

Vit à : Paris , France

Camille Bréchignac is a curator and art theorist working at the intersection of speculative practices, radical imagination, and contemporary art. She holds a Master’s degree in Curating from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a BA in Political Science, Philosophy, and Art History from McGill University. She began her career in London as Associate Curator at Kunstraum and collaborated with the Photography Department at Tate Modern, assisting on the Dora Maar exhibition. After relocating to Paris in 2019, she developed independent projects with artists such as Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien before joining Galerie Poggi as Associate Director. There, she led major institutional collaborations with the Venice Biennale, the National Gallery of Canada, Museo Reina Sofía, MCA Chicago, the New Museum, and the Centre Pompidou. She worked closely with artists including Kapwani Kiwanga, Sophie Ristelhueber, Josèfa Ntjam, Darío Villalba, and others, while significantly contributing to the gallery’s strategic growth and international positioning. Returning to her practice as an independent curator, she curated in 2025 the first solo exhibition in France of Turner Prize–winning artist Tai Shani. In 2026, she was appointed Artistic Director of the Fonds de Dotation Encore! (Groupe Chessé), where she is rethinking the foundation’s philanthropic strategy and launching a new production grant for artists and independent curators. She also joined the co-artistic direction of The Feral, a long-term AI-driven film project initiated by Fabien Giraud and Anne Stenne, conceived as a landscape-scale learning site for artificial intelligence. The project will be presented in 2026 at the Berggruen Foundation in Venice, Kraftwerk Berlin, and MAAT Lisbon. Her research is focused on speculative practices and the politics of the possible in contemporary art. This year she will start a PhD at the Sorbonne (Université Paris 1).
