> CONTRIBUTION OF C-E-A FOR THE PROPOSED DRAFT LAW OF ORIENTATION ON ARTISTIC CREATION IN THE FIELDS OF LIVE SHOW AND PLASTIC ARTS
Statement established by the association C-E-A on the situation of the curators of exhibition in France today as well as its requests for a social recognition of the curatorial activity.
“The urgency today is that of defining a social and fiscal system adapted to the specificity of the profession and its economy. It is obvious that the work of the curator is a matter of authorship: conception of a curatorial statement reflecting a point of view on the state of art and the world, writing of curatorial texts, selection of artists, works and complementary elements (documents, objects), arrangement / setting in space and “in time” / scenography. This characterizes an original work that is the imprint of the personality of the curator-author.
> CONTRIBUTION FOR THE WHITE PAPER FOR THE INTERPROFESSIONAL CONGRESS OF CONTEMPORARY ART 2013
As part of the Congress, the member associations of CIPAC were invited to communicate about their association:
“Why an association of curators? The association C-E-A / Associate exhibition commissioners was born in 2007 from the recognition of a lack of recognition of curators of contemporary art, while the curator is a profession in its own right. ”
> INQUIRY ON THE CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION COMMISSIONERS IN FRANCE BY LAURENT JEANPIERRE, ISABELLE MAYAUD AND SOFIO SOVERE
“This report proposes a first sociological portrait of curators of contemporary art exhibiting in France (in 2008). The survey reveals that there are at least as many curators of contemporary art in France as curators of heritage all specialties combined. It confirms the inflation of the number of intermediaries in the world of contemporary French art since the 1980s and the development of a new position in the field of contemporary art. Despite this growing importance, the activity remains unknown. ” READ MORE

> PUBLICATION OF THE EVENT “EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY ART: CURATORS AS INTERMEDIATES”
“In the field of visual arts, the curator is a person (or a group of people) responsible for designing and organizing a temporary exhibition of works of art, monographic or collective. The curator determines the choice of the artist (s) as well as the works, the problematic of the exhibition, the placement of works in the place (s) hosting the project, the holding of occasional events which are attached to them, as well as the modalities of their diffusion and their mediation with the public. ”
