Application period 1 July up to and including 3 October 2016
The Van Eyck is a multidisciplinary institute that furthers experiment, research, study, production and exchange. In our institute promising artists, designers, curators, (landscape) architects, writers and other thinkers are given the time and space that is needed to develop their talents, to discover as yet unexplored perspectives and delve into deeper layers of their selves.
The Van Eyck is an international multiform organization for fine art, design, and reflection. The Van Eyck has a multiform structure consisting, firstly, of the Jan van
Eyck Academie, the international post-academic institute for talent development and its Labs; of the Hubert van Eyck Academie, which takes responsibility for educational and project-based collaboration; of Van Eyck Mirror, the project agency which brings participants and cultural and social actors into mutual contact; of Van Eyck Services, which manages the utilization of the building and the Labs by third parties; and of the Van Eyck Café-restaurant, an open interface with the outside world.
These components interlock like gears in the mechanism of the Van Eyck; the outputs of this mechanism include the programme and the links between participants and external partners.
The Van Eyck invites artists, designers, photographers, architects, landscape architects, curators, writers, and thinkers to apply for a residency at the Jan van Eyck Academie for 6 up to 12 months.
Every applicant shares our belief that insight comes through exchange with other: insight in the meaning of things, in your own practice, in the (art) world. Besides working in your own studio, you are expected to take an active part in the Van Eyck programme, to participate in one of the Mirror or Hubert van Eyck projects and to be involved in one or more In-Labs.
